Amersham-Western LAS 4000 & IQ 800

Overview

Since 1990 when we first launched Amersham™ ECL™ reagents, we have continued our commitment to providing innovative solutions for your protein analysis. Our products are optimized to work together so you can easily achieve excellent Western blotting results, whether you need sensitive protein identification or reproducible protein quantitation. For the majority of users, one of the following product combinations will help obtain outstanding results in Western blotting.

Amersham ImageQuant 800

CCD camera systems made in collaboration with Fujifilm™ for sensitive, quantitative imaging of blots and gels by chemiluminescence, fluorescence including NIR and colorimetry. Superior gel and blot images without the guesswork.

Key Benefits

Ready-to-use reagents for fast and convenient analysis of proteins following one-dimensional (1D) electrophoresis and/or Western blotting.

Choose between a quick 5 min protocol and a standard 30 min quantitative protocol.

Stain complex and purified samples with protein concentrations ranging from 1 µg/mL to 20 mg/mL, without the need to pre-measure protein concentration. Sensitivity: As good as silver staining, sub-nanogram sensitivity.

With a fluorescence imager or scanner, it is possible to simultaneously detect main bands and impurity levels down to parts per thousand (0.1%).

A 10-fold dilution of samples with the labeling buffer, which has a high buffering capacity and ensures reproducible labeling at optimal pH for a wide variety of samples. Versatility: Most materials exhibit low Cy5 fluorescence background, which makes the kit compatible with many common gel formats and membranes.

Western Blotting Membrane Range

Amersham Western blotting membranes are available in a selection of rolls, sheets, and sandwiches. Select from a broad range of nitrocellulose (NC) and polyvinylidene difluoride (PVDF) Western blotting membranes, with pore sizes ranging from 0.1 to 0.45 µm to suit your application requirements. Choose from our range of both wet and semi-dry transfer units for maximum flexibility.

Optimize protein transfer through membrane selection

The properties of each type of Western blotting membrane influence the efficiency of protein transfer depending on the binding capacity, mode of binding interaction, & pore size. Find out how different membranes affect transfer efficiency & identify a suitable membrane for your application.
